Si apre l’awards season: Una battaglia dopo l’altra in testa ai Gotham Award

Una battaglia dopo l’altra di Paul Thomas Anderson conquista sei nomination alla 35a edizione dei Gotham Independent Film Awards, i premi che, come da tradizione, aprono la awards season. Il thriller della Warner Bros. è in corsa in cinque categorie: film, regia, sceneggiatura non originale, interpretazione rivelazione (Chase Infiniti) e interpretazione non protagonista, quest’ultima con due slot (Benicio del Toro e Teyana Taylor: la decina è gender fluid). Fuori dai giochi il protagonista Leonardo DiCaprio.

Quattro candidature per If I Had Legs I’d Kick You di Mary Bronstein, con Rose Byrne (già Orso d’Argento a Berlino) in gara tra le interpretazioni protagoniste. Tre nomination per due titoli internazionali: Un semplice incidente di Jafar Panahi e No Other Choice di Park Chan-wook. Neon, A24, Mubi, Warner Bros. e Netflix sono gli studi più nominati.

Già assegnati il Director Tribute a Noah Baumbach per Jay Kelly, l’Ensemble Tribute al cast di I peccatori (Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Buddy Guy, Li Jun Li, Delroy Lindo), lo Spotlight Tribute Tessa Thompson per Hedda e il Vanguard Tribute a Guillermo del Toro, Oscar Isaac e Jacob Elordi per Frankenstein. I Gotham celebrano lo spirito del cinema indipendente ma, dal 2023, hanno eliminato il limite nel budget.

La cerimonia di premiazione si svolgerà l’1 dicembre a New York.
