TAIWAN 1977

Due giovani cinesi, Bruce e Jimmy, vivono a San Francisco e si guadagnano da vivere fungendo da camerieri e da sguatteri in un ristorante cinese. Un giorno, sbeffeggiati da alcuni clienti, sbruffoni, Bruce si offende e, con le arti marziali, mette in fuga i ribaldi. La padrona del locale, però, temendo rappresaglie, scaccia i due che si mettono alla ricerca di un posto che non trovano perché tallonatri dai soliti persecutori.
