Un ufficiale del Black Watch, il secondo reggimento highlanders, ha fama di vigliacco. Parte per l'India allo scoppio della prima Guerra Mondiale. In realtà è in missione segreta, per rintracciare un drappello di commilitoni caduti in mano al nemico.
