Ai Golden Globes è stata la notte di Argo e Les Miserables: il primo vince tra i miglior film drammatici e alla regia, dove Ben Affleck si prende una bella rivincita dopo l'esclusione dalle nomination degli Oscar di pochi giorni fa. Il secondo è il trionfatore tra le commedie/musical e porta a casa altri due Globes: a Hugh Jackman come miglior attore di una commedia e a Anne Hathaway tra le migliori attrici non protagoniste.Considerati tradizionalmente un antipasto degli Oscar, i 70° Golden Globes sono stati assegnati (dalla stampa estera a Hollywood) per la prima volta dopo le nomination degli Oscar annunciate già giovedì, proprio per eliminare ogni influenza sulle scelte dell'Academy. Il dato più eclatante è che tra tra i 14 film che si sfidavano attraverso le diverse categorie, sono stati premiati in 10. Detto di Argo e Les Miserables, vanno sottolineati i due Globes a Django Unchained - a Christoph Waltz (attore non protagonista in un dramma) e sceneggiatura (Tarantino) - e i vari riconoscimenti agli attori: a Jennifer Lawrence (migliore attrice protagonista in una commedia: Silver Linings Playbook), Jessica Chastain (migliore attrice drammatica: Zero dark Thirty), Daniel Day-Lewis (migliore attiore drammatico per Lincoln).
Tra i film stranieri successo annunciato per Amour di Michael Haneke, mentre nell'animazione trionfa Brave della Pixar.
Mychael Danna ha ottenuto il Globe per la migliore colonna sonora (Life of Pi). Jodie Foster è invece diventata ufficialmente la più giovane attrice della storia a vincere il Cecil B. DeMille Award.   Golden Globe winners and nominees
