Sono state annunciate le candidature dei Golden Globes 2017. La 74° edizione dei riconoscimenti assegnati dalla Hollywood Foreign Press Association si svolgerà domenica 8 gennaio. La cerimonia sarà condotta da Jimmy Fallon. La La Land e Moonlight sono in testa rispettivamente con 7 e 6 nomination. Manchester By the Sea ottiene 5 candidature, mentre Tom Ford è candidato sia come miglior regista che come miglior sceneggiatore per Animali notturni.

Nella cinquina dei migliori film drammatici troviamo quattro titoli passati alla Festa di Roma (Hell or High Water, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight) e Hacksaw Ridge, Fuori Concorso a Venezia. Nella cinquina dei migliori registi, invece, tre con i film presentati a Venezia (Damien Chazelle con La La Land, Tom Ford con Animali notturni e lo stesso Mel Gibson con Hacksaw Ridge), due passati alla Festa di Roma (Lonergan con Manchester by the Sea e Jenkins con Moonlight).

Balza agli occhi, infine, la totale assenza tra le nomination di Sully di Clint Eastwood e Silence di Martin Scorsese. Anche se, nel caso del film di Scorsese, rimane il dubbio se sia riuscito a rispettare la deadline del 5 dicembre per essere visionato.
